I'm Charlotte, and I write like I speak. Friends often ask me for recommendations on books, films, music, games and podcasts, so I created Grab a Slice to share suggestions and help others discover new faves.
I’m currently in a transitional and somewhat chaotic phase of my life. I’ve been delving into the depths of my inner self, attempting to understand why I am the way I am and how I can move forward with more peace and calmness. This process is challenging, and it isn’t always a pretty journey.
I'm journaling every day and meditating on a deeper level. I’m spending longer in yin yoga poses and exploring various forms of healing, including Rongoa Maori techniques, psychic readings, tarot readings, ice baths, birth chart readings, shadow work, and reiki to remove energy blockages. I'm also incorporating saunas, and talking therapy, and I'm noticing angel numbers everywhere. If it's a form of healing, I'm participating in it!
It's not just about doing the activities or fully understanding or believing in them; it's about noticing, taking the time, and doing things purely for myself. I'm healing my inner child, unravelling my inner workings, and having more moments throughout my day where I'm hyper-aware of my mind, body, and actions at that precise moment. I want to learn more about this through these activities—trying new things, keeping an open mind, practising curiosity, and simply observing what happens. It’s magical.
That’s the context for some of the differences in the media I’m currently consuming. I’m deeply immersed, and it’s making me feel alive.
Anyways… rapid firing through what I’ve been up to below for you!
It’s the festive season… so naturally I’m looking around for cute gifts… of course, I’ve stumbled accidentally onto the Paris Georgia website and I’ve been daydreaming about this Remy skirt in Mineral Blue… I just LOVE a creamy, milky blue colour in fabrics so it’s caught my luxe-loving eye! What do you think?
I’ve always loved having movies playing on a second screen while I’m working, it’s just a great way to keep me focused and as someone who sometimes works from home, it’s just nice. And lately, I’ve been enjoying diving into some of my older favourites from the past. Things I loved watching when I was younger! Two firm faves of mine are Queen of the Damned and Sleepy Hollow which have been recent rewatches for me.
There is even a great playlist from QoTD! See it below on Spotify,
Have you seen the documentary called ‘In Pursuit of Silence’? It’s SO good and one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t mind existing in silence, I enjoy the quiet and I enjoy my own company. This documentary was such a wonderful way to look at the world through the lens of stillness, quietness, and silence. Extremely thought-provoking!
I think this is a great explainer of the radical feminist 4B movement (or 4 No’s) if you haven’t read much into this extremely layered way that some women are choosing to live their lives in South Korea. I knew about this movement a few years ago, but with all the recent changes in USA political landscape, the convos have been reemerging.
I’ve been diving in deep into my nightly routine in the evenings which of course involves skincare so this article was a nice one to read.
I’ve been reading the Short Cake Cake manga series and it’s so cute. I went and purchased the first novel from a local store here in Auckland called Graphic Novel Cafe and it’s super fun to read!
Of course, I’m listening to my Spotify Wrapped list which is my top 2024 tracks and I’m currently SO into it. I’ve linked it below in case you want to get amongst this same playlist!
Hope you’re having the loveliest week and not letting the festive stress get to you too much,
__Charlotte xoxo
