Ghostface Porn, Janet Jackson & Worst Roommates Ever: Issue 16
Are you starting to feel like the odd one out if you haven't had Covid 19?
Kia ora friends! đ
Itâs another weeeeek! How have you all been? Good? Bad? Angry? Frustrated? Trying to make it through a day at a time? SAME.
Before we get cracking, I have a bone to pick about #InternationalWomensDay - from Kiwi brands, right through to International brands sharing their *BEST* performative, disingenuous posts on International Womenâs Day. Click the link above for a little roundup on Dazed Digital *cue the eyeball rolls*.
To highlight something even better â hereâs a brilliant article by the editor of FashioNZ, with her take on the day and the meaning behind it.
On with it!
This week Iâm watching, reading and listening tooâŚ
I watched the new Scream movie and it was, um, not my fave. I duno, I spent 50% of my time on my phone scrolling but I HAD to watch it because HELLO, 90âs slasher films are my ultimate jam. This film though, even though it had a few of the OG cast (heeeey Neve Campbell), didnât quite add up for me, unfortunately. Have you seen it? Share your thoughts with me. I would love to hear from someone who liked it, and why.
Also, related side note: but I *stumbled* across this article which honestly had me howling with laughter. It asks the question âWhy is Screams Ghostface in so much NSFW Onlyfans Porn?â. Also, if youâre on TikTok and you wanna see some weird shit, go look up the hashtag #ghostfacecult - I mean⌠would I even be authentic to myself, if I didnât A. Find these things, and B. Share them with you?
Iâm a huge fan of anime, in particular, Studio Ghibli which is a Japanese animation studio that has created the likes of Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totaro and Howlâs Moving Castle. Iâve seen all their films a million times, but this week Iâve been rewatching them one by one.
Okay so on to the true-crime section, and not in a âYAY I love serial killers letâs glorify themâ kinda way⌠TO BE CLEAR I am not someone who is a âserial killer fanâ. I donât have a fave, I hate them all. They are all/were really fucked up people. I feel very passionately about this. Iâm someone who enjoys watching crime and the science BEHIND why people do what they do (as well as forensics). NOT in a fucked up way okay. Now⌠have you seen âWorst Roommate Everâ on Netflix? Because holy shit, I accidentally binged the whole series of stories on the weekend while I was feeling a bit unwell (no itâs not Covid) and it was so well put together, not cheesy like other crime shows.
This newsletter is FREE but if you did want to subscribe for only $5.00 a month to support me (and get bonus stuff) then PLEASE go for gold!
P.S If you can't afford it, thatâs totally okay â I don't want money to be a barrier to entry and this particular newsletter will always be available for free regardless đâ¤ď¸
Is it just me, or are *certain* influencers going a bit ham in regards to content on whatâs happening in Russia / Ukraine / USA? Iâve seen a couple of examples of what seems like erratic, spur-of-the-moment posts from people who seem to be really ill-informed and tone-deaf. This article about âmilling about onlineâ was an interesting read. I cannot express enough, and ONLY because I have totally made this mistake before⌠but you gotta research and read reputable sources people!
I wanted to share this beautiful piece of work âTransitional Housing: Making a Home of a Body that isnât Mineâ by Hannah Pittman (she/her), a trans woman who writes so eloquently about such a difficult, personal and emotional topic.
I checked out the latest podcast episode of Even The Rich - itâs about Janet Jackson vs. The Halftime Show. Itâs a really solid breakdown about the super bowl drama, and how that event and the media affected her career + more on how awesome she really is. In case youâve been living under a rock since 2004, Janet Jackson's breastâadorned with a nipple shield was exposed by Justin Timberlake. This whole thing led to an immediate and viral debate on perceived indecency in broadcasting. Also. FYI, February 7th is Janet Jackson Appreciation Day. đ§ Listen at the link below:

RECOMMENDATIONS
Now, this doesnât happen often, because I am a literal internet creep and find MANY GEMS (not uncut jams though) but I need your recommendations for new podcasts. Have you listened to a good true crime/mystery related podcast lately!?
Please send your recommendations on through because I desperately need something fucked up, juicy and downright weird⌠do you know of anything that fits the bill? Thanking you in advance!
Okay, I lied⌠I have ONE more question for you⌠if I keep writing this each week, as per⌠do you think itâs ALSO worth reading/recording this newsletter out loud (with the hyperlinks) as well? For those who want a quick voice recap instead or for those who are visually impaired? Iâm tossing up whether to do the written version and then a spoken/voice version⌠Hit the comment button below and let me know.
And thatâs a wrap for this week my friends.
Love you, chat next week and thanks HEAPS for those incoming subscriptions (paid and free!) and for sharing this with people who might like it!
MÄ te wÄ (see you later)
