Blue, Drama Triangles & Poisonous Plants: Issue 56
Blue lotus tea is my new favourite hot beverage.
I'm Charlotte, and I write like I speak. My friends always ask me for recommendations on books, films, and podcasts, so I created Grab a Slice to share my suggestions and help others discover new favourites.

Hello readers,
It’s been a long month of travelling for work AND COVID struck me down shortly after, also, I’m just generally feeling a bit overwhelmed and bogged down with work stuff which is fine - but this is just a friendly reminder to take care of yourself, your mental health and your physical health! Covid is very much still out there and I don’t wish it upon anyone.
On to the good stuff because it’s the long Easter weekend and I wanted to make sure I got this out to you before the break started!
How cool is the Alnwick poisonous garden which you can visit in the UK? The most dangerous plants are kept in cages! Catch this short video on Facebook which talks a little bit more about the garden.
I went along to an in-person guided meditation a few months back and tried some Blue Lotus tea for the first time - I can’t begin to describe the relaxation that washed over me, as well as the delicious flavour of the tea. Now I’m reading all about it, and wanting to buy some for at-home rituals as well.
Bel Hawkins writes so beautifully, I genuinely love reading what she’s up to - she’s like the wholesome, refreshing internet bestie you always wanted. This piece on doing what she wanted to do was a nice little moment.
I really enjoyed reading this piece by Tiana Griffin about decolonising sex - beautiful!
I’ve done sessions of therapy throughout my adult life whenever I feel like I need to delve back into my past and work on things. Late last year I decided it was time to jump back in and do some more work on myself - and one of the resources my therapist shared with me was about The Drama Triangle. I had never heard of this concept before, but it has been eye-opening for me! Check it out if you’re interested.
“The three roles of the Drama Triangle: Victim, Persecutor and Rescuer are all about getting our needs met. However, in the Drama Triangle, the driving force behind those needs is always negative. The roots of the roles are always found in pain, negative beliefs, shame and insecurity.”
I love the colour blue. Always have. Always will. This piece of writing by Constance McDonald was a pleasure to read. Now all I want is some blue glass in my home.
As always, it's March (almost April), which means I am sharing my custom-made playlist with you. I update it almost daily with whatever songs I'm into that day, week, or month. It's always an eclectic mix because that's how I roll.
Until next time my friends, have a stunning Easter break!
